Job ID = DH/HQ00002667
Job Title = R&D Embedded Engineer
Location = Leatherhead
Salary = £ 32000.00 to £ 40000.00 per annum
I have a first-class opportunity within a scientific instrumentation company, established and secure, read the job below and let me know if you might be interested.
Position would suit either a second jobber (2-5 years in business post grad) or a person with a high level degree.
A candidate with a Degree in an electronic discipline or possibly Mechatronics
The world leaders in the field of thermal microscope instruments and supply products to all the major microscope manufacturers and sell into many diverse markets ranging from the food industry, pharmaceutical, semiconductors, in fact anywhere where materials are subject to processing.
You will be working within the R&D team with a view to supporting our range of microscope-based instruments which are based around ST STM32 Arm microcontrollers.
A knowledge of small signal processing is essential, as we use a range of low output sensors in the design of new prototype instruments, most of which have embedded microcontrollers. Software is written in 'C' and debugging is from the IAR ARM workbench.
PCB design is also part of the role where we use PADS PCB and Logic for all our surface mount layouts. Boards are then assembled by a 3rd party, although experience of surface mount rework is required.
With each new design there will be a requirement to consider EMC and LVD and to gather documentation to support the submission to an external test house.
This role is varied but has the freedom for an individual to see the design from inception through to production with a high degree of individual input.
- Proven experience in embedded development
- Recent hardware development experience ideally from an electronic design environment combining analogue signal conditioning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills which support custom algorithm and communication protocol design
- Practical knowledge of interfacing techniques and serial communications
- Strong embedded C programming skills
Embedded controller development
Hardware & software testing
Internal product support
Minimum of 3 years' experience in an electronic design environment combining analogue signal conditioning with embedded design.
Ideally a good knowledge of designing with the STM32 series of microcontrollers.
Programming in C using the IAR Workbench.
Develop the embedded code from initial specification stages, through to design and testing
Provide input into technical review meetings
Manage full life-cycle development of new and existing products
Test and validate new developments and improvements
The Embedded Software Engineer must be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary R&D team – they are working with STM32 microcontrollers so any previous experience of these micros would be beneficial but not essential.
This is a great chance for an Embedded Software Engineer to join a reputable and well-established technology business.
