Job Overview
The Technical Support Engineer provides field service engineering for after-sales customers and technical support for internal customers to ensure that products are maintained to meet internal and external customer requirements for performance and reliability. There will be a significant amount of overseas travel which can be up to 50% time spent overseas in any single visit at customer and end user sites, up to a maximum of 3 weeks in one trip.
 
Responsibilities and Duties
Installation and technical support of products and systems within the company, at customer factory and end-user sites.
Monitor the performance and up-time of all company products, both in-house and at end-user sites.
Proactively engage with the customer to resolve product issues
Work with Production to implement and improve the build, test and commissioning of new and existing products.
Help maintain the Technical Support function to sustain the growth of the company, and the customer demands.
 
Qualifications
Essential
&#$2022;Degree level in Electronic Engineering, Physical Sciences or equivalent
&#$2022;Related experience of at least 3 years in scientific instrumentation and or experience within an electronics engineering servicing role.
&#$2022;Experience in field service and technical support, including use of CRMsoftware
&#$2022;Experience of electronic, mechanical, optical and vacuum systems
&#$2022;Working within a quality management system environment
&#$2022;Fluency in written and oral technical English with excellent presentation skills
&#$2022;Comfortable with long haul flying and able to travel overseas at 48 hours 'notice, including weekend travel.
 
Desirable
&#$2022;Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams in a small company environment
&#$2022;Experience of working with optical systems including lasers and fibres; electronics; electro-mechanics would be an advantage.
&#$2022;Working safely with high voltages and LASERs
&#$2022;Software experience would be an advantage
&#$2022;Setting up network/ host user environment
&#$2022;Second language skills
 
Personality A team player, with excellent personal and time management skills, able to travel overseas and work independently with customers at customer site
